Good morning!

On behalf of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), please allow me to extend our warmest welcome to all the distinguished guests from all over the world, and friends from all parts of China. I would like to give my warm congratulations to you upon the 7th International Conference of the Asian Clinical Oncology Society (ACOS) & 9th Annual Meeting of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO).

As we all know that the incidence of cancer is on the rise because of increased exposure to such risk factors as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, infection, environmental carcinogens, and rapidly ageing populations also contribute to the global cancer burden. Being a fast growing developing country, China has witnessed both the incidence and mortality rates of cancer increasing very rapidly during recent years, and it becomes the first leading cause of all deaths. The incidence of traditional cancer in China such as cancer of esophagus, stomach and liver are still very high. However, the incidence of common cancer in western countries such as lung cancer, breast cancer and cancer of colon rectum have also been increasing for more than 2% each year in the recent twenty years in China. So we are facing a big challenge of heavy load of cancers. Cancer now is a serious problem in China, Asia and the whole world. However, we are happy to know, through years of research by all the oncologists in the world, it has been much improved in the prevention and treatment of cancer. As the new therapy such as target therapy has become more and more mature, we believe more and more lives will be saved.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Let the Individualized, Targeted Therapy Serve the Asian Patients Better”. Such a theme does express all the oncologist confidence and wishes to conquer cancer together with the patients.

As the largest oncology organization in China, CACA new has 33 special societies covering all fields of oncology. CSCO is one of the best in the field of clinical oncology and plays an important role in the field of clinical oncology not only in China, but also in Asia and the world. We wish CSCO more and more achievements and success in this field.

Finally, my wish goes to everyone for a nice, happy and enjoyable stay here in Beijing.
